  • Apply moisturizer after each bath so that the skin does not lose moisture and help relieve itching. Aloe moisturizer can be used to both cool and help relieve the pain. For increased effectiveness, put moisturizer in the fridge. Do not apply grease, butter, or any oils on the sunburned area.
  • Apply 1% hydrocortisone cream to the skin 3 times a day, taking care to apply only to areas that are not slippery, including the area around the boils. Do not use benzocaine or any ointment that has the “caine” suffix because it can cause skin irritation.
  • Drink more water: Blistered skin can cause dehydration. Drinking plenty of fluids prevents dehydration and aids healing.
  • Take ibuprofen or aspirin for pain, if needed.
  • If the skin begins to itch when the blisters are dry, apply moisturizer, without scratching or rubbing it hard on the skin.
